OFICIAL: Lotus a reziliat contractul cu Cosworth pentru motoare

Lotus şi Cosworth au pus capăt în mod oficial contractului pentru furnizarea motoarelor, deschizând astfel calea pentru o înţelegere cu Renault.

Lotus Racing a anunţat la finalul Marelui Premiu al Italiei că a ajuns la un acord de principiu cu Cosworth pentru rezilierea contractului pentru furnizarea motoarelor, însă actele care stabilesc concret acest lucru au fost semnate abia vineri.

Parteneriatul va lua sfârşit în mod oficial în 30 noiembrie 2010, iar Cosworth va furniza anul viitor motoare doar pentru Williams, Virgin Racing şi Hispania Racing.

"Decizia de a încheia prematur parteneriatul a fost determinată de dorinţa echipei de a rezolva problemele de fiabilitate şi de performanţă care nu au legătură cu motorul Cosworth. Lotus Racing şi Cosworth au stabilit termeni satisfăcători pentru ambele părţi pentru a încheia prematur contractul. Cosworth le urează succes celor de la Lotus Racing şi va continua să furnizeze motoare pentru Williams, Virgin Racing şi Hispania Racing în 2011, sprijinind astfel 25% dintre echipele din Formula 1", se precizează într-un comunicat de presă al furnizorului britanic Cosworth.

Se anticipează că Lotus Racing va utiliza motoare Renault începând din sezonul 2011, cele două părţi ajungând anterior la un acord verbal în acest sens.

    Noile echipe sunt atat de slabe si datorita motoarelor Cosworth.Tehnologia e destul de veche iar cine crede ca o miniuzina poate tine pasul cu un construcor oficial se inseala amarnic. O decizie buna pt Lotus.Poate prind motoare Renault.

    tin sa te contrazic in legatura cu motoarele Cosworth!Uita-te la Williams si progresele lor!Tind sa cred,ca problemele noilor echipe vin de la furnizorii,suspensii,cutii de viteza,transmisie,aerodinamica,etc si mai putin de la motoare!!!!!

    E clar acum? Lotus is poised to announce a number of changes for the 2011 season, and these could include a tie-up with Toyota according to reports in the Italian media. A Lotus spokesman said the team will be making "a number of very exciting announcements" in Singapore next weekend, and Autosprint claimed those would include a new technical cooperation with Toyota Motorsport, the Cologne-based organisation that raced in Formula One between 2002 and last year. Toyota is currently supplying Pirelli with a 2009-spec test car, and has been linked with a technical collaboration for 2011 with HRT. But Autosprint reports that Lotus and Toyota are in fact set to team up, with Mike Gascoyne proving the crucial link between the two outfits. Several former members of Toyota's F1 team are now working with Lotus, such as sporting director Dieter Gass. "We have to do something different and it will be done soon," Lotus supremo Tony Fernandes told the BBC at Monza last weekend. "Lots of negotiations have gone on over the last couple of weeks and we're very happy with the outcome." It is expected that the current drivers will be retained for another season, and that Lotus Racing will take on the historic Team Lotus moniker for 2011 and beyond.     relatia cu Toyota a celor de la Lotus va fi in domeniul proiectarii sasiului. Nu cred ca Toyota se va lega la cap sa mai fabrice motoare.
